Trail Stewardship Workshop, June 17, 2006

Attention:
Hikers, Mountain Bikers, Horseback Riders!
The Pocono Environmental Education Center
and The Friends of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area are proud to host:

Pennsylvania Equine Council’s
One-Day Trail Stewardship Workshop
with Bud & Gwen Wills
of the Pennsylvania Equine Council

Why? Do you see the litter on our trails? Do you wish more trails were open? Are you concerned about streams along the trails and the watersheds?

We have 100-plus miles of multi-use trails in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area alone. Recreation Area staff are wonderful but with tens of thousands of visitors to our trails, they cannot do all of the clean-up and maintenance and trail mitigation needed. Trained volunteers are needed.

We must be ready and willing to maintain our trails!

At this all-day workshop, volunteers will learn:
 How you can be an effective volunteer
 Why trails are constructed in certain ways
 How to protect our streams on the trails
 How to appreciate multi-use trails

Who: Equestrians, hikers, bikers, and others concerned about conditions on public lands and willing to do something about them.
